“This was the best game they’ve played in the three years this program has been around,” coach Eric Evans said after the Logan County Cougar soccer team won 10-0 in their game against Hopkins County Central Tuesday night.
The Cougars took the field and were ready to win. Within the first 10 minutes of the game, the Cougars had scored five goals against Hopkins County Central. The rest of the first half was intense as both teams fought for possession of the ball and by the end of the first half Diego Garcia scored the sixth point for the team.
The Cougars did an excellent job passing the ball to each other and kept the ball and the opposing players moving the entire game. They scored four more points in the second half including a last minute goal made by Tanner Chapman.
“They played really well tonight,” said Evans. “We stayed organized and only had to make six goal saves during the game.”
Evans said that passing is key to the game and that the boys passed the ball well. He said they still had a few things they needed to work on but that this by far was the best game they had ever played.
“We’ve had 10-0 games because but nothing like the way we played tonight,”said Evans. “They stepped up when they needed to step up.”
The Cougars next game is scheduled for next Tuesday against Todd County Central.
