The Russellville Panthers football team faced the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats on Friday night and won the game 26-14.
This win brings the Panthers’ season record to 4-2.
The Panthers started the game off with bad luck after their turned the ball over to the Wildcats with a fumble. The Wildcats went on to score early in the first half taking the lead 7-0. The Panthers pulled it together and Demarcus Hampton rushed 64 yards the score their first touchdown. The Panthers would score again in the first half with a 40-yard touchdown pass from Barrett Croslin to Tacorian Darden.
The second quarter started and the Panther defense put down the Wildcats and gave their offense a good opportunity to score. Barrett Croslin would score the next two touchdowns for the Panthers with a 29 yard rush and a 39 yard rush touchdown to end the half 26-7.
The Panthers didn’t score the rest of the game and the Panther defense continued to press on but made a mistake which ended with a touchdown by Franklin-Simpson in the fourth quarter to end the game 26-14.
“The boys battled their butts off and played their hearts out tonight. We have several injured players and our tank was empty, but I’m very pleased with their effort,” said RHS coach John Myers. “I couldn’t ask for anything more. I wish we would have finished better but we are going to take it and learn from our mistakes and get healthy.”
The Russellville Panthers will travel to Fulton County on Friday.
