The Logan County Cougars finished out the regular season on Thursday. The Cougars travelled to Warren Central to face the Dragons. The Cougars played a tough game, and slipped by with a 2-1 win.
The Dragons started off the game in the bottom of the first inning with a single to drive in their first run. The Cougars had some errors, but were still able to hold the Dragons back from scoring more.
The Cougars would be able to tie up the game in the third inning. Joe Holiday would get a run in for the Cougars to tie the game up 1-1.
The game was slow for both teams, neither were able to score another any runs, until the seventh inning.
Ryan Basham would start the inning off, reaching first base on error. Luke Woodall would come in as a courtesy runner for Basham. Caleb Bruner would put the play in motion, with a single that drove in Woodall, putting the Cougars up 2-1.
The Cougars offense were able to keep the Dragons from scoring in the bottom of the seventh, which secured the win for the Cougars.
Senior Ryan Basham pitched for seven innings of the game. Basham finished the game allowing five hits, one run, walked two and had seven strikeouts.
The teams will be competing in the district tournament this week.
