Bowling Green man dies in Logan accident

Donald Rhea, 79, of Bowling Green, died in a automobile accident close to the Logan-Warren County line Monday, June 3, 2013. The accident occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 68 and Stamps Road.

According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, the preliminary investigation shows that Rhea’s vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2010 Freightliner driven by Norman D. Guertner, 42, of Clarksville, Tenn., collided at the intersection.

Rhea was airlifted from the scene to Vanderbilt Medical Center, however, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident at approximately 12:35 p.m. Assisting the sheriff’s department was the Auburn Police Department, Auburn Rural Fire Department and the Logan County Emergency Medical Service.

It was discovered that Rhea was not wearing a seat belt.
