Monday night the Logan County Cougar soccer team went up against the Todd County Central Rebels in the first round of district. The Cougars were expecting a win but the night ended with a disappointing loss of 0-5. The Cougars would end their season 9-8.
The Cougars walked on to the field ready to fight but the Todd County Rebels scored two goals by the end of the first half while the Cougars were still working on finding the back of the net. The Rebels came out after halftime and scored early in the second half. The Cougars dropped their heads and would end the night with a 0-5 loss.
“They didn’t come to play. There weren’t doing anything they’ve been taught. There was no communication and no passing. That’s what happens when you don’t play as a team,” said head coach Eric Evans. “We had a good team but left too much on the field. We’ve got a young program but they’ve got to realize no individual can carry the team, everyone has to work together.”
The Cougars will be losing ten seniors this year, which is a sad loss to the team.
“I feel for the seniors, they’re done. They were all talented and I hate losing them, they are my family,” said Evans.
The Todd County Central Rebels would go on to win the district championship with a 3-0 win against Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday night.
