Russellville’s new Creekwood Nursing & Rehab Center is a state-of-the-art facility, that not only offers the most recent technology, but also a spacious and elegant atmosphere anyone would love to call home.

The new property is located on Boyles Drive in Russellville, nested between two golf courses and a stone’s throw from Logan Memorial Hospital.

Construction on the $11.7 million center began last year, however, plans to build a new facility have been in the works for over a decade.

Creekwood, which is owned by Creekwood Nursing & Rehab Center Inc., has been located on East Third Street in Russellville since 1962, with additions being added on in 1974 and 1982. Before it was named Creekwood in 2000, it was the Russellville Healthcare Manor. Due to age and lack of space, a new location and building was needed. The new facility is almost triple in size as the old one at 65,000 square feet.

An open house was held Tuesday for the community to come and see the new center. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 1,300 visitors came out to support the new home. There were guided tours, vendors, free give-a-ways, music from various artists and delicious food from Dafnel Fulcher’s Sweet Temptations Bakery Cafe and Catering.

Director Elizabeth Gettings said she was amazed to see that many people come out. She expected a good turn out, but never the numbers that showed up.

“I am so thankful to everyone who came and showed their support from the community,” said an excited Gettings.

The new facility is beautiful and looks more like an upscale hotel than a nursing home. In the entryway, a long corridor with a vaulted ceiling and waterfall greets you. From side to side there are rooms just as amazing, including a rehabilitation wing complete with top notch exercise equipment, a spacious showering room with a whirlpool for those who need special care, a fancy dinning area that feels more like a restaurant setting, roomy inlets that have couches, chairs and televisions, and then the bedrooms themselves. The bedrooms are both single and double occupancy. Each bed comes with its own TV and each room its own bathroom.

Getting said some of the residents visited Tuesday and she had no words to describe the looks on their faces when they came through the front doors.

“Some had tears in their eyes,” said Gettings.

Moving the residents into the new facility is schedule for April 9th. This will be a one-day move, said Gettings, who is asking those in the community that wish to lend a helping hand to call her.

“We can use all the help we get,” Gettings said.
