The Lady Panthers had their last home game on Monday and faced the Lady Blazers from University Heights Academy. The Panthers lost 1-2 (18-25, 25-14, 20-25) bringing their season record to 11-12 headed into the district tournament next Thursday.
The first game stayed close in points, but the Lady Blazers pushed forward and won 25-18. The Lady Panthers showed good skill and passing in the second game. The Panthers maintained a huge lead and won 25-14. The final game was close throughout the game, but the Panthers lost focus in the end and the Lady Blazers took the win 25-20.
“I thought the girls played good. They played hard and their passing is getting there. We are missing a few girls from fall break, but they played good,” said head coach Terricka Quarles. “I thought the games were exciting, but the girls started being timid which allowed the other team to have more aggressive hits.”
Monday night was the last home game for seniors Kathleen Noe and Nathasha Haskins, but they were proud of their team.
“This season has been rocky. We’ve won as a team and lost as a team, but we play together no matter what happens,” said Noe.
“I think we will do good at district. We’ve got the talent and the hustle to win the whole thing,” said Haskins. “I wish tonight could have ended better, but I’m happy with my team.”
The district games have been moved from Monday night to Thursday night where the Lady Panthers will first face the Lady Wildcats at Todd County High School.
