William McDuff “Bill” Johnson Sr., 83, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.

He was born Feb. 23, 1929, a son of the late Sterling Fort Johnson and the late Grace Elizabeth Short Johnson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Haley Johnson and his son, Robert Paul Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was a retired county agent for Chickasaw County.

A private burial service will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Elkton. Latham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his son, William M. Johnson Jr. and wife Kathryn Zimmerman Johnson of York, S.C.; his brother, Paul Douglas Johnson of Plainview, Texas; his grandchildren, April Jean Jones, Mimi Eileen Johnson, Katherine Haley Johnson and Lee Thomas Johnson, and his great-granddaughter, Kylie Hope Johnson.
