The Russellville High School varsity cheerleaders brought home first place honors in the Class 1A Small Coed Division of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Regional Competitive Cheer Competition at Bowling Green High School on Jan. 12.

On Saturday they will have a chance to bring home victory again, as they compete in the KHSAA State Competitive Cheer Competition at Western Kentucky University’s E.A. Diddle Arena.

Team coach Paulette Smith, who also teaches at RHS, said the squad’s hard work this year has paid off. They were wonderful in competition at BGHS, she said.

“They have learned that it takes the team to become as one, and how important it is to be on one accord to get the job done,” she said. “They were committed and they looked awesome! There was not one team there that they could not have competed against, even if they were out of our division. I am so proud of all of them.”

Saturday’s competition starts at 8 a.m.
