Only eighth graders were allowed to run for offices.
Candidates were as follows: president: Tray Allen and Courtney Woodlee; vice-president: John Vick and Marie Weldon; secretary: Calyn Crofford; treasurer: Kristin Mosley; reporter: Kaitlin Pegg and Amy Epley.
In the weeks prior to the elections, the candidates campaigned to win other Beta members' votes. On the day of the election, the candidates gave speeches and then members voted for who would fill the offices.
Courtney Woodlee is now the president; John Vick fills the vice president position; Calyn Crofford is the secretary; and Kristin Mosley is the treasurer. The club reporter is Kaitlin Pegg.
Now that the Olmstead Beta Club has its newly elected officers, the members are ready to start performing services.
Some things that the club has scheduled for October are visits to the nursing home and the animal shelter, highway trash pickup, and working at the school's fall festival.
Throughout the year, the Beta Members perform tasks to help the community. Near the end of the year, the members participate at the State Beta Convention, and possibly the National Beta Convention.
This past summer the club attended Nationals for their scrapbook entry, which won first place in state and 5th place in Nationals.
