Grady Harold Peay, 82, of Springfield, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville.
He was born in Nashville, Tenn. on Sept. 26, 1930, a son of the late Grady and Mable Johnson Peay.
Mr. Peay was a veteran of the United States National Guard, worked as a farmer and was of the Baptist faith. he was also a 50 year member of the McWhirtersville Masonic Lodge #375.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 12 p.m. in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Brother Carl Fruedenthal officiating. Burial followed in the Johnson Family Cemetery. Visitation began Tuesday, Jan. 22 from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Tyler, Boyce Coles, Kody Jordan, Andy Leighton, Page Barker and Ernest Hallman.
He is survived by his son, Grady (Sarah Shoulders) Peay of Adairville; a special companion, Tonie Hall of Springfield, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Jordan of Adairville and Grady L. Peay of Cookville, Tenn.; his great-grandchildren, Kristina Jordan, Kody Jordan, Grady L. Peay III and Gavin Peay, and his great-great-grandson, Braylin Jordan.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Knights of the Templar Eye Foundation and may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell.
