William Thomas Carter, 71, of Russellville, died Wed., Feb. 20, 2013, at Logan Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 22, 1941, a son of the late Billy Scruggs and Lucy Carter. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter is preceded in death by his son, Michael Carter.
Mr. Carter worked as a farmer for most of his life.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Brother Forrest Creekmore officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Russellville. Visitation began at the funeral home Saturday, Feb. 23 f5rom 5-8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 24 from 8 a.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers were Michael Carter, Woodrow Barber, Bobby Wix, Joseph Barber, Chris Creek and Mark Pentecost.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Carter of Russellville; his daughter, Leigh Ann Carter of Springfield, Tenn.; his brother, Clayton Carter of Franklin; his sisters, Betty McPhaill and Agnes Epley, both of Franklin, Irene Conn of Berea, Sue Conyer of Scottsville, Hilda Creek of Adairville, Shirley Barber of Bowling Green, Edith Wix of Portland, Tenn. and Mary Ann Waldrop of Pembroke; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
