Samuel Pulley, 70, of Hendersonville, Tenn., died Friday, April 29, 2011, at the Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tenn.

He was born in Ferguson May 4, 1940, a son of the late William “Willie” Pulley and the late Marie Wilson Pulley Dotson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pulley was preceded in death by his brothers, Gene Pulley, Joe Doris Pulley, Denton Abney and Lloyd Dotson and his sisters, Katie Gamble and Ella Dotson.

Mr. Pulley was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and later worked as a general contractor and was a member of the American Legion and was in Who’s Who.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 1 at Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Brother Michael Shrum officiating. Burial followed in the Dripping Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Daniel Mounts, Charles Pulley, Nick Pulley, Dewey Lankford, William Zimmerlee, Michael Pulley, Frank Dotson and Gene Pulley.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Fuqua Pulley; his sons, Samuel Harris Pulley of Russellville and Charles Young Pulley of Hendersonville, N.C.; his daughters, Connie Sue Pickle of Millersville, Tenn. and Kami Marie Pulley England and husband Tom, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; his brother, Frank Dotson and wife Jackie of Russellville; his sisters, Sharon Brown and husband Jimmy and Gayle Allen and husband Winn, all of Olmstead; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
