Elvis C.”Poppa” Uhles Sr., 72, of Elkton, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Allen County on March 19, 1940, a son of the late Chester Cordell and Lizzie Bell Grant Uhles. In addition to his parents, Mr. Uhles was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Millie” Uhles in 2007; his daughter, Cynthia Lynn Uhles in 1996, his brother, James Norman Uhles.

Mr. Uhles was a farmer and Baptist by faith.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home in Elkton with Rev. Tommy Wilhite and Reverend Mitch Hedge officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Elkton. Visitation began at the funeral home Friday, Feb. 22 from 5-8 p.m.

He is survived by his son, Elvis Uhles Jr. of Elkton; his daughter, Sandra Louise Uhles of Springfield, Tenn.; his brothers, Chester Odell Uhles of Allensville and Lloyd Delton Uhles of Dawson Springs; his sisters, Jeanie Frances Fraley of Franklin, Ind., Lois Madeline Perry of Scottsville, Betty Sue Shanklin of Russellville and Patricia Ann Johnson and Molly Carolyn Gant, both of Elkton; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
