Effie Mae Perdue Higdon, 85, of Elkton, Ky., died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, Ky.

She was born in Todd County on Jan. 6, 1928, a daughter of the late Charles Spurgeon Perdue and Myrtle LuLu Vass Perdue. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Higdon was preceded in death by her husband, Howard D. Higdon in 2007 and her son, John Warren Latham.

Mrs. Higdon was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Elkton.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Davenport officiating. Burial followed in the Glenwood Cemetery in Elkton, Ky. Visitation began Tuesday, Jan. 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

She is survived by her sons, Howard Glenn Higdon of Elkton, Ky. and Scott Travis Higdon of Bowling Green, Ky.; her daughters, Rita Mae Rager and Anita Mallory, both of Elkton, Ky.Y and Debra Kaye Mertz of Woodlawn, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
