Barbara Mitchell, 79, of Allegre, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
She was born in Todd County on April 3, 1933, a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Betty Gregory Hurt. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Mitchell in 1990; her brothers, Earl, Allen, Charlie, Dorris and Maurice Hurt, and her sisters, Katherine Jernigan, Juanita Hurt and Magdalene Blake.
Mrs. Mitchell worked at Elkton Apparel a number of years and retired from Flynn Enterprise. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home with Mr. Terry Frogue, Reverend Tommy Franklin and Reverend Eddie Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the France Cemetery. Visitation began at the funeral home Thursday, Jan. 31 from 5-8 p.m.
She is survived by her son, Reverend Eddie (Delois) Mitchell of Allegre; her daughters, Betty (Gilbert) Tucker of Allegre, Nancy (the late Richard) Baker of Hopkinsville, Linda Kaye (David) Whitaker of Clifty and Tina (Terry) Frogue of Elkton; her brother, Douglas Hurt of Elkton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
