Another drug bust involving methamphetamine was made in the city of Lewisburg recently.

According to Jerry Smith, director of the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force, Deputy Robert Toombs with the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a complaint call on Green Street in Lewisburg at a residence Monday, Dec, 3 at approximately 11: 15 p.m. Upon arrival Toombs could smell ether. Toombs, who is a former drug task force agent, has had training in the detection of meth labs and quickly requested the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force to respond along with Logan County Deputies Bobby Hoots and Tyler Harvey.

“A search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence and an active meth lab was discovered, which was in its final stage of cooking, one of the most dangerous stages of the cook,” said Smith.

Arrests were made on Chris D. Gunn, 31, of Lewisburg. He was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center.

“There were also other persons at the scene who will have their names brought before a Logan County Grand Jury for possible indictment in the near future,” said Smith.

The task force cleaned up and disposed of the lab, which is a costly process. Those involved will be asked to repay for this expense as well.

“This is the second lab that we have had to respond to in the Lewisburg area this week,” said Smith, who urges everyone who notices strange behavior in their neighborhoods or strange odors to contact the South Central Kentucky Drug Task Force at 725-4972.

“As in this case this was not the first complaint on this residence,” said Smith.
