Well, it is Friday after the most romantic day of the year. Valentine Day! I am sure all you ladies and some men got wonderful cards that told you what a wonderful person you were; how they could not live without you and so forth. I could go on and on.
I just wondered if any of you ladies got one of those five foot Teddy Bears that were advertised all over the television. Can you imagine your sweetie coming in with a Teddy Bear as big as you are? It showed pictures of you watching TV with the bear, also jumping into your bed with this wonderful bear. Really, thank goodness the Hubby did not get that idea. There would not be enough room for the bear, me and the Hubby all in the same bed. Somebody would have to go to the other bedroom and it wouldn’t be me.
Well, I must tell you about my Valentine experience. On Monday before the big day, the Hubby says to me, “we need to go to Wal-Mart so I can shop for some SNACKS. I thought he had dropped all his marbles. Of course I agreed and off we went to Wal-Mart. Of course, Wal-Mart was loaded with everything under the sun. Flowers, candy, pajamas with big hearts and even all kinds of cakes in a heart shape. Really there is no reason why your sweetie, friend or somebody didn’t bring you something.
While I was there I thought I would just do a little shopping for me. I found a cute pair of sun glasses and a pair of RED short pants. So I guess you can call it a Valentine present “from me to me”. You know we all need to do this every once and a while. Just break down and get something for yourself. If you wait for someone else to do it….it won’t happen. That is it doesn’t at my house.
So, we get back in the car and I said, “Where are your snacks” you were going to buy. I thought maybe there was another reason he wanted to go to Wal-mart, like maybe get a new fishing rod or just look around in the sports department. He said, “I didn’t get any”. Why was that? He said, “Well, I spend so much time looking for you a card, I didn’t have time to get any”. After I quit laughing, he said he did look at some heart shaped cookies but they had so many calories in them he knew I wouldn’t want any. For some reason I couldn’t imagine where he was going with this story.
Well, finally, he spilled the beans. He had purchased a Valentine Card for me. He said,’ I didn’t have any money left after I bought the card”. He said when he got to the cashier and she told him the card was $9.00 he nearly had the big one! He told the cashier, I feel like taking this back”. He couldn’t imagine a card costing that much. Of course she reassured him that I was worth it! Poor thing, he was really shook up. He just doesn’t realize things have gone up a little bit lately. Of course, he had never bought me a card until this year. He would always have the excuse, “you mean its Valentine Day again”! It just seems like yesterday when it was here before. Isn’t that just like a man?
Well, Valentine’s Day has come and gone and of course since I found out about my card early, it wasn’t much of a surprise on Valentine’s Day. But it was beautiful and I will put it away in my memory trunk. Then next year, I can pull the card out and enjoy it all over again; because he probably will never buy a card again.
Happy belated Valentine’s Day everybody. Hope all of you got a pretty card, even a box of candy but really I don’t think you would want a Teddy Bear especially if it is as big as you are!
Till next time, tell everyone you see they have fifty one weeks until Valentine Day rolls around again. In the mean time give everyone you see a HUG and tell them HAPPY BELATED VALENTINE DAY. It won’t hurt if you tell them you love them to!
