Man, it is so good to be back talking to you people out there! You know how it is when you come home. Everything you have needs something done to it. Also, I mentioned the Hubby having a fit because I went on a cleaning TEAR! Our garage is so clean he can’t find a thing. Ask me if that went over real well.

To pacify him, I heard of a place nearby that had “down home” blue grass music! It’s a place we usually go sometime and have a plate lunch. You know what that is, same as meat and three! For a long time when that term was mentioned, I would ask “three what”? Of course the Hubby would always give me that look. You know that look, it’s like you don’t have a brain in your head. Since he was so upset, I told him we needed to get up and go to Joe’s Place and have breakfast on Saturday morning. Of course, he says, “what’s so special about that”? I told him I heard they had “PICKING AND GRINNING” on Saturday mornings. I really couldn’t imagine this happening because the place is so small. It sorta reminds me of Wayne’s Place in Dunmour. You know I told you about that place. Hope you have tried it out! The biscuits are great. As you can see I love biscuits.

Bright and early we jumped in the car and off to Joe’s we went. The parking lot was packed. The Hubby says, it must be pretty good since everybody is here. That’s when I gave him “that look”. We walked in and that place was jumping. All the tables were pushed together in a straight line so you sit close to your neighbor. On the right side of the room they have booths and on the left they have a serving line with food. At the very end there was a big group of “down home” base players, fiddle players, banjo pickers and plenty of guitar pickers. They were really “getting with it”! The people who was not busy feeding the face with that wonderful food, were clapping and patting their foot.

The food was out of this world, homemade yeast biscuits, crisp bacon, grits and fried potatoes. Scrambled eggs and a whole ham that they would just cut a “big old slab” off and put it on your plate. And for those who like gravy, they had plenty of it! My thought is why mess up a good old biscuit with a bunch of wet gravy to make it soggy!

Of course after I got over the shock of the great food and the wonderful music, there were all these people just singing, eating, talking and laughing and having fun. I mean all ages. There were “old codgers”, middle age guys and even a few teen agers that were enjoying the whole thing. But what was wonderful was that I got to see a lot of my old friends that I had not seen in years. I even sat across the table from my “old boy friend’s” brother. Of course, I introduced him to the Hubby but I kept my little secret about the old boy friend to myself.

Well, on the drive home I called my sister and told her we finally went to Joe’s on Saturday morning and I was wondering why she was not there. You see, she was the one who kept insisting we go. She told me that “anybody that was anything” always goes to Joe’s on Saturday. After seeing that crowd, I believe it. She wanted to know how long we stayed. I said, “what’s that got to do with it”? She told me I missed the best part if we left before ten o’clock. She said, by then everybody had eaten breakfast and they push the tables back and start dancing. You know I wondered why everybody kept just sitting around talking and drinking coffee after they finished their breakfast. Man, I guess this means I will have to go again next Saturday. I certainly don’t want to miss any excitement. I will fill you in on this part of the show in my next column.

Well, I hate to say this but Wayne’s place is going to have to get with the program. They need to get some of those “guitar pickers”, and fiddle players together and stir up some excitement around the lake area.

Well, till next time. Look around for new excitement you can put in your life and JUST DO IT! Time is a wasting. It’s later than you think.

Almost forgot, I have declared everyday is “give a hug day”. So hug somebody just for the fun of it. It might shock them but tell them to “pass it on”.
