National Food Check-Out Day will be held in Logan County on Friday, February 22, 2013. Russellville Dollar General Market and the Lewisburg IGA are hosting this year’s Food Check-Out Day. Food Check-Out Day is the day set aside by American Farm Bureau to recognize the American farmer for providing us with affordable food. Because of the farmers hard work we are able to spend less on food and therefore have more money to spend on other things, which boosts our whole economy and quality of life.

At the Russellville Dollar General Market and the Lewisburg IGA, customers will have the opportunity to estimate the value of a cart of groceries. At each location the customer with the closest estimate to the actual value will receive a $50.00 gift certificate and the runner up will receive a $25 gift certificate. These gift certificates are purchased from the Russellville Dollar Market and the Lewisburg IGA by the Logan County Farm Bureau. Come join Farm Bureau and honor the American farmer on Friday, February 22, 2013 between the hours of 2-4 p.m. The gift certificates will be given away at 4 p.m. Remember it only takes six weeks to earn enough income to purchase food for a year, whereas, it takes over three months to earn enough income to pay taxes. Thank you to all our farm families!
