50th Year Reunion for class of 1961 Lewisburg High School

The 1961 Class of Lewisburg High School held their 50 year reunion Friday, May 27, at Federal Grove in Auburn. Forty attended, including twenty five class members. They are, left to right, front row, sitting Charlotte Brooks Applying, Shirley Stuart Williams. Second row Dwight Audas, Van Wilson, Sue Scarbrough, Kay Dillon, Ben W. Gower, Joe Moore, Van Washer. Third row Billy Adley, Bobby Brown, Beverly Houchens, Shirley Lacy McKinney, Linville McKinney, Lillie Keeton Griffin, Carolyn Obrien Goodman, Ben Harris, Jimmy Shemwell, Sheldon Baugh. Fourth row Jimmy Hickman, Felts Clark, Charles Bowles, and Bill Lawson.

Senior sponsor Van Washer and his wife Betty, also attended. After the meal, a drawing was held for door prizes of UK items and each classmate received a UK t-shirt, all of which was donated by Ben Gower of Henderson. The night ended with Karyoke signing by Carolyn and Bobby Goodman and Beverly Houchens.

Ben and Ruth Harris entertained the 1961 class with a lunchon at their home in Dunmor on Saturday, May 28, twenty five attended. The entire group particpated in Karyoke singing.

The 1961 class was honored at the Lewisburg High School Alumni Banquet on May 28. Classmate Charles Bowles was the keynote speaker and he received at standing ovation for his excellent speech. Sixteen classmates were present.
