Christmas Blues. Everybody has them! Right after you hear the first Christmas carol you think, another year has come and gone. You think about the time your children were little ones and now they have little ones and you’re a grandmother. Man, time flies when you are having fun. I can remember my Grandmother telling me the same thing. Of course, I was young then and believe me I try to stay young especially in spirit. Now the body takes a little more work! That’s what each of us have to work on each day.
The first thing you need to do is put up your tree very slowly and remember all the ornaments that friends have given you. Don’t even think, oh my, it’s that time again and I have to drag out that old tree AGAIN. I get out all the ornaments friends have given me and have myself a good “Christmas Cry”! I mean a big BOO HOO. Memories are like jewelry that you get out on special occasions and wear around your neck. Take all day and just stroll down “memory lane”. Of course this is the time the Hubby says, “That tree looks like it is going to throw-up! You can’t even see the tree for the ornaments. But do you think that makes me lose my “Christmas Spirit”! No Sir, it does not.
Then I always remember all the food we use to have only at Christmas. I often wonder why some still do that. You know the coconut cake that Grandma always made with the boiled custard that goes with it. I use to make homemade bread that I let rise and platted it like ladies do their hair. Then bake, brush it with egg whites and it would just shine. People always enjoyed getting one when I delivered it to their house. Are we living too fast? Are we forgetting what this season is all about? People out there in “Never Never Land”, do not forget the ones that need you. This time of the year they need your “spirit” more than ever.
Every year I contact all those people that I have met during my life of travels….and there have been many. You got it! You have to let them know you care.
Yes this is the reason for the season and I must remind each of you to contact just one person this season and tell them to contact one person and before you know it everyone in the surrounding area will be contacted and given a very special message! MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL! Doesn’t that feel good just to say it?
As I always do, I am reminding you to enjoy each precious moment! Bye now.
