It’s that time again to tell you all the exciting news at the lake! Man, I can hardly contain myself. It won’t take long and you are going to really wish you lived here with me. You see there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING GOING ON!
Once again I will mention the “changing of the leaves”. I spoke with my sister and invited her to a “leaf party” and she said she was not coming. Said she did not do leaves…..rake them that is! Really what are sisters for if it’s not to help you out once in a while? You see she is a golfer. You know one of those women that run around carrying a little stick and hitting a little round ball. Most of the time she is looking for it. But I told her how beautiful it was here and she said absolutely NO! If have a chance to talk to your sister, tell her that you love her and I bet she will come over and rake your leaves.
Then I called a friend early one morning and she was still in bed! I told her she was missing the best part of the day and she should be out walking like I was….she “HUNG UP”!
Sunday rolled around and thank goodness, some people had their boats on the water; ours is sitting in the yard. Strange isn’t it! Not too exciting. But it’s now Tuesday and the boat is gone…..to a friend’s house to spend the winter! Won’t see it until next year. Man, time passes fast when you are having fun DOING NOTHING.
Then when we were at Wayne’s, a couple came in and invited us to go on a trail ride. I told her we had company but we would be there for food. Man that was good.
A friend called from New York, you see I mail her a copy of my column and she wanted to know how the ducks were doing. I hated to tell her I was really concerned about them. This last week I only saw them twice. One time they came and only Daisy came up to eat. The other two watched the water as if something had been chasing them. Yesterday, they were here again but only for a little while. They seem to be in a hurry to “eat and run”. Aren’t we all like that sometime? Not me, I’m RETIRED. Yea, finally I am my own boss and I can come and go as I want! Just enjoying the moment. Hope you are doing the same. Bye now.
