Hello Logan County! I am glad to be back after several additional days in our hospital in Russellville. This time it was a fluid buildup. (More than 20 pounds of fluids.) I went to the emergency room first due to shortness of breath. I was there for several hours while the emergency crew worked on me. I thought I would be going home afterwards but instead I was placed in the ICU for the next three days. I received wonderful care and bounced back as the excess fluids were removed from around my lungs and body. I want to again thank the staff for their great job of bringing me back.
The Red River Fish & Game Habitat in Adairville held their 50plus year annual fish fry last weekend. There was a large turnout of folks, lots of very good food and a lot of fun. The club was able to raise a good bit of money to help with all its’ charitable activities. Thank you to all who helped and all who attended.
Costello’s Restaurant in Adairville has closed. I am very sorry about that. The restaurant served a real need in the community. It will be missed. Cheers for Patty Costello who worked hard to provide a good restaurant for Adairville.
Good news is that a new restaurant has opened on the Adairville square. A young former military family has settled in Adairville and opened a pizza and sandwich shop. I had a nice barbeque sandwich. They are also looking into expanding into a small grocery as well. I wish the new folks well and hope they have great success.
It is now less than 40 days till our national elections. I encourage everyone to watch the TV debates. The debate this week was the largest watched in history. I expect the next will have an even greater audience. I have really been surprised that Trump has not received a single endorsement from an urban newspaper. Including all the big city Republican leaning papers. Clinton has received endorsements from a number of Republican newspapers and most all Democratic papers. Some of the Republican papers had never endorsed a Democrat before. What a surprise! Or many be not!
Think back on what I wrote in this column almost a year ago when I predicted Clinton and Trump would be the nominees and that I saw a Clinton win. Look for a rousing tough, insulting and somewhat wild next debate between the two major candidates for President.
I was at the White House for many years with both Democratic and Republican Administrations. I liked all that I worked for. I found the first ladies were frequently tougher than their husbands but I got along with them all. Watch for a rip roaring final 40 days of the campaign. There are still some big surprises that will hit before election day.
Time to go. Good night Mrs. Calabash where ever you are. Till next time.
