Greetings from The Antioch Community.
This is a beautiful Tuesday morning. I had to go to Bowling Green yesterday to keep my appointment with Dr. Ray, my heart doctor. He said my heart was pretty good. He is a young doctor and is really nice. He has time to talk to you. He always asks if you have any questions.
Barbara Venable and myself went with our TOPS leader, Sharon Cargill to Owensboro on Saturday to S.R.D. This is a get together of all the TOPS clubs in the state of Kentucky. A large crowd attended. Sharon got to participate in the parade of leaders and I got to participate in the parade of the alumni KOPS. Seven people graduated from TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) to KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly). They wore black gowns and caps.
After the parade of alumni KOPS, each one has a candle (or a special light) and the lights are are turned off and each KOP lights their candle as we are standing in a circle around the room. This is call a Circle of Lights and it is so beautiful and peaceful. We had a good day.
The Kickoff for Bible School will be Saturday, June 11th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. VBS will be Sunday 12 through Wednesday 15th. First lesson will be Sunday morning at 10 a.m. and Sunday night at 6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday will be 6 to 8 pm. Please come and bring your children. Everyone is welcome.
The seniors will be going to Owensboro on June 17 to have lunch. Sometimes we go shopping. Melba drives our church bus and we always have a good time. Each person is responsible for their lunch. Come and go with us.
Make and Kay Thornberry will be going on a Mission Trip to South Dakota June 24-July 2. They are in need of money to purchase building and electrical materials to repair two homes and to help out on expenses on the trip. If you can help, it would be very much appreciated as they go there to minister to the Indians who are in dire need because the winters are very cold there.
Sherry Harris will be coming from Louisville on Monday the 13th to the home of Hazel Fleming to visit with us cousins who are very few in number. We always enjoy her visit.
Sorry that Dorothy Harris had the misfortune to fall and hurt herself. Remember her and all the sick in your prayers.
Sure enjoyed the Bluegrass music this morning on the radio by Gary Anderson. Hope Don can make this a regular program.
It is about mail time, so hope to be with you next week.
Hope every Father has a special day on Fathers Day.
When God says “no” it’s because he has something better in store for you.
Have a good week.
