Yes, the Strawberry Booth will be open daily. Several people will also have fresh strawberries for sale. Wayne Stratton has told me he will bring all he has available. Quantity and quality will be depending on the weather. Be sure and bring your own folding chairs and umbrellas just in case.
Note: The Art Walk on Saturday begins on the Adairville Square at the Bank Art Studio and proceeds to The Forge Coach House at 309 North Main. From there, we continue to the Art Studio on the corner of North Church Street and Townsend Avenue. To complete the tour we visit the relocated and restored one room school house on the corner of Townsend and High Streets. The complete tour will take approximately 45 minutes. Participants may walk or drive.
The 2016 Grand Marshall of the Strawberry Festival is Elizabeth Davis Hall who has dedicated many years to helping the citizens of Adairville and helping make the annual Strawberry Festival a success.
The 2016 Strawberry Festival also honors another very important lady. The festival is dedicated to Virginia Lloyd who moved to Adairville as a tiny child and has been here almost 100 years. She has helped the community for many years and is much loved.
Both Elizabeth Davis Hall and Virginia Lloyd are two grand ladies that have done their town proud. We salute both wonderful women.
100 Years Ago Today – The US Marines invaded the Dominican Republic. Remington & Sons were founded. (They have made millions of guns and typewriters since.) New Mexico Senator Fall calls for a ten foot wall to be built along the Mexican border.
Today is National Millionaire Day. Tomorrow is National Readathon Day.
Time to go. Good night Elizabeth Hall, Virginia Lloyd and Mrs. Calabash where ever you are!
