Greetings from the Antioch Community.
The big news this past week has been snow, ice and more snow. It really looks pretty when you are inside looking out.
I have not been outside since Monday the 18th. It has been a long week.
Bro. Clardy called Saturday and said church services would be cancelled for Sunday. He said it was too dangerous for us older people to be out.
He didn’t know that I had fell. Said I should have called them. I am writing this on Sunday. I am supposed to go tomorrow and get stitches out but may hath to go wait until Tuesday. The place is still awful sore.
Juanita Key has been moved from the hospital to Creekwood Rehab for a few days.
A very dear, dear friend braved the cold and snow on Thursday and brought me my lunch. I believe that was going the extra mile. Thanks Tammy! I love you and the food was delicious.
I went to warm up my lunch Saturday in the microwave and it wouldn’t work. Sure do miss it. Will hath to get a new one. Sure don’t want to do without one.
Thursday, Jan. 21 was our cousin Sherry Harris in Louisville birthday. Called her and wished her a Happy Birthday. She said they were snowed in too.
I called my brother-in-law Louie Schmidt in Branson, Mo. He said they just had a few snow flurries there.
I sure hope our weather is pretty next weekend, as we are having the 5th Sunday night singing featuring the Brown Family. You are invited to come. We would like to have a big crowd.
We will be having finger foods after the service.
They are planning to have a Valentine’s Dinner on Saturday night, Feb. 13h. After we eat they always play games and have prizes for the winners.
Some birthdays in January are Brandon Risley 1, Olivia Sisco 6, James (Curley) Causey 11, Lee Allen Robertson 11, Elizabeth Thornberry 13, Sue Joyce Estes 18, Chris Epley 18, Sherry Harris 21, Shanna Stokes 24, Shelby Thornberry 29th. Hope everyone had or will have a happy birthday.
Hope everyone is safe during this bad weather. Be sure and check on the elderly that are by themselves.
Your little is a lot when you give your all.
Have a good week.
Editor’s Note: Below is last week’s edition of the Antioch News, which did not arrive at the newspaper office until this week due to the snow.
Greetings from The Antioch Community.
We sure are having some cold weather. I guess it is time of the year to have winter weather. Sure don’t like to hear them talking about freezing rain.
Marcie and I attended the Logan-Todd WMU Book Study Monday at the Baptist Building. Susan Bryant Kentucky WMU President was our speaker. We enjoyed her very much. We also enjoyed the good lunch that we had. There were 20 present, counting Bro. Rob.
Marcie and I went to the Hospital to visit with Juanita Key. As we were going in, I had the misfortune to fall. Spent some time in the ER.
Thanks to the two Gentlemen that helped Marcie get me up and into a wheelchair.
Be sure to remember that we will be having the Brown Family at Antioch on 5th Sunday night at 6 p.m. That is January 31. We will be having Finger Foods after the service. Diane, if you read this, be sure and come. I will try to have the coconut cake there to eat.
Dr. Larry Gotts was on the Feedback show Tuesday morning with Don. I always enjoy listening to the questions that are called in. I sure do appreciate the Good Doctor taking time out of his busy schedule to do the Feedback Program. Also you get your answers free of charge.
Our seniors went to Clarksville on Friday and ate lunch at the Golden Coral. Our group was small, but we had a good time and sure enjoyed that good food. Those going was Melba, driving the bus, her great grandson Bradley, Marcie, Dolores, JoAnn and myself. My granddaughter Michele, who lives in Clarksville, came and ate with us. Of course I was glad to spend some time with her.
My brother-in-law James Fuller went to see his doctor Monday. She said he was doing good.
The report on Juanita Key on Monday was that she was going to Creekwood. Hope she can soon be home.
My arm is awful sore, so will close for this time.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Have a good week.
