Now I know each of you had a fun day celebrating the first day of the New Year. I am sure most of you had black eyed peas, corn bread, collard greens and maybe baked sweet potatoes. This is the normal southern dinner for NEW YEARS DAY.
Well, my mother was a Yankee and I must say I never had a southern dinner for the New Year until my first Hubby came along. Now he loved country ham, black eyed peas and corn bread. So I am sure all of you ate something like this especially the people who were anxiously waiting for the ball games to come on TV.
I just knew you would like to know that I could hardly wait for these games to start. The Hubby gave me the most wonderful New Year’s present. You see we were supposed to leave the Daughters house and start our annual trek down south. But the Hubby decided he would let me see all the playoff games. Now wasn’t that just nice of him. Of course I will mention to you that he also wanted to see the games. But “sweet me”, I let him think that he did it just for me! You see I have converted him to a football watcher.
I would just like to tell you that I have had better days watching football. I did not get to watch all the 17 games that played that day. You see Direct TV would make that decision for me. You know that went over like a lead balloon. I want you to know I made a list of all the team playing and I picked who I thought would win and I picked 9 winners. Not bad but no good either. I am going to look into the NFL package next year so I can see the games I want to see. So if you have any experience with this package, please e-mail me and let me know the GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY.
I went into deep depression when my Giants, Jets and Green Bay LOST! But I nearly had the big one when they put in my favorite quarterback and the Broncos won! If the three above won, I would have been sitting pretty. Well, there are play offs this coming Sunday and you know where I will be.
I know you ladies out there haven’t enjoyed my column today, especially the ones that don’t give a flip about football. But ladies have you noticed how the department stores always has a sale on football Sunday. Women know that their Hubby don’t care what they spend as long as they get to watch their ball games. So YEA to the store owners they love football games.
I had a nice person send me a message that she read my article and told me she is going to be living at the lake this next spring. She was looking for boat storage. If you know of anyone or any place that will store a boat, please send me an e-mail. I am sure she will love you to pieces.
Well, we are at our “home away from home” and we got here just in time to see the Seahawks and the Ravens. But most important my Green Bay Packers WON. For the past few weeks, they weren’t forth a “plug nickel” but they finally got it together in the last half. Yea double Yea! Can’t wait until next week end for more play offs. Tune in, I will give you the low down of the game.
I haven’t told you lately to give your Hubby a great big hug. So if you don’t have a Hubby then hug your friend’s Hubby. He will love it! Bye now.
