There is always something magic about a Christmas Tree! It never fails, every year when I put up our tree I have memories of “years past” that flood over me like a title wave. Some good, some bad.
You see when I was a little girl, people didn’t have much money to spend on things that were not essential. You see you got socks in your stocking, maybe a candy cane and an apple or orange. One year I wanted a camera so bad. And guess what, Santa Claus brought me one. But it did not have any film. I was told that Santa ran out before he got to my house. Needless to say, I had fun just taking pictures of everything. I loved that camera. One day my friend said, why you take pictures when you know you will never be able to develop them. My reply was that I love to see people smile. I just don’t tell them I don’t have film.
Then one year my Granny “on the train” send me a bicycle. We called her that name because she lived up north and she was far, far away. We always rode the train when we went to see her. She is the one who always sent me dresses that were too long! So this bicycle was a BIG SURPRISE.
I do hope when you put up your Christmas tree that you sit in your favorite chair, shut your eyes and remember those precious moments of some of your Christmas’ past. It will make the “reason for the season” even better.
You know I am always telling you miracles are still happening all around us. Well, I had two happen to me this past week and I must share them with you. You see I keep a “little book” with me at all times so I don’t forget anything! If you would like one, they are sold at the Dollar Store. It is called “JUMBO LITTLE BOOK”. I guarantee you that you will ever forget anything again. With all my valuable lists written in my book, I stopped by the Dollar Store on my way to Walmart. On my way into Walmart, I reached in my purse to get my little book and it was not there! Panic hit! So as I went through the store I tried to remember what was on my list. As I was putting my things in the car, I decided to call the Hubby to see if I had forgot anything. Well, no phone was in my purse. It hit me I must not have put it back in my purse after using my credit card. So I run back in the store and some wonderful person had taken it to the Customer Service Desk. Ask me if I said a little thank you prayer to the Good Lord for that miracle. Also, if the person who found it reads this column, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
As I was driving back to Lewisburg, I thought I would stop by the Dollar Store and see if my little book had been found. I had so many list in it and of course they were important things that I needed to do. You know if you write it down, you will not strain your brain to remember all those things.
As I walked in the door, I asked the manager if she happened to find a little book laying anywhere. She said, “I certainly did”, you laid it on the counter and did not pick it up. I almost hugged her neck. I told her she was an answer to a prayer. That I had my BRAIN in that book. She look at me like I had “lost my last marble”! Once again I said, thank you Lord for another miracle. You see miracles don’t have to be earth shaking. They can be TINY things that happen that can make our life easier.
I had one other surprise, the Daughter dropped by and she made all my Christmas Cookies for me. Yea…..MIRACLES, MIRACLES.
So this Christmas, reflect on all the good things that have happened to you this year. Then spread as much Christmas Spirit as you possibly can. Work at it! It will come back to you in hugs and kisses. As always, Please enjoy every
Christmas moment because I certainly am! Bye now.
