It’s football Sunday! Man, I am one of those people who is glued to the TV all day Sunday. How many times have I heard you women out there say “you don’t get between my husband and the TV set on game day! Well, the Hubby told a friend the same statement last week. But I hate to admit he was talking about me.
The Hubby mentioned as he was drinking his coffee, “How is your column coming along?” Remember the Hubby never reads my column until it is in newspaper print. Go figure that out. I am afraid if he did he would not let me say some of the things I do. I told him my mind was blank as a clean piece of paper. Also I reminded him that it just pops into my head when I start thinking about it.
So as I was stepping out of the shower, a thought flowed right into my head. It was about last week, as I was waiting on the Hubby, a neat lady came and sat next to me and of course we starting talking. You remember, I will talk to anybody, anytime. Of course I asked her where she lived and she told me Russellville. I told her I lived on the lake and she told me that she had a place on Kentucky Lake but her son would not let her go there anymore by herself. You know the first thing out of my mouth was WHY? She told me it was because of her age; that she was too old! When she said that I nearly flipped. I can’t mention how old she was but she was older than me and I am not OLD!
So of course we talked about a lot of things and when I was about to leave, I told her she should enjoy the moment, and her face lit up with a smile. She ask me if I read that woman’s column that lived at the lake. By this time the Hubby was back from his appointment and he was ready to leave; so I just turned and whispered “I am that woman”! She nearly flipped. You know I didn’t even realize that people really read my column.
As we were walking away of course I was “stepping high” so proud of myself and the Hubby had to go and burst my bubble when he said, “you didn’t even introduce me as the Hubby”!
As I have said a million times, look around you, there are people who need people. Say hello and smile because you will never know whose life you may make a little brighter. Bye now
