Here I am drinking my coffee in my little glass room and it is “black as pitch outside”! There is only a few light that are twinkling but the reflection on the water is out of this world. The water is shimmering and just barely moving. I bet you get tired of me telling you how peaceful it is here but just thought it would help you close your eyes and remember the most beautiful spot that you have ever seen and just hold it there. It might be when you saw your baby for the first time; could be when you met that “knight in shining armor” and you just loved him to pieces. Then as you move through life it could be a vacation, going to graduation, hearing you grandchild call you “Granny” and you felt old then. It could be that new house, and then again it could be visiting a friend that lived on the lake and that first time you walked on her deck and saw water; you said I have got to live here. And so the hunt was on and here I am.
Some of you are wondering how I ever got started doing this little column. You can blame it on my neighbor. She moved next door and she too loved the lake but she still had a job and she could only come on the weekends. So I would tease her and write her little stories during the week and tell her all about what she was missing. One day she told me that I should share them with you and now its history.
I have a neighbor that moved back to the lake about two years ago. You can only see his house in the winter time. You see he lives above me and I use to walk by his house and wonder who lived there. But now as I sit in my favorite room I can see a light in the end of his house. But I must tell you last winter he had a Christmas tree in the end of his house and the little colored lights just shined so all could see. It just gave me the HOLIDAY SPIRIT! You see that is the first time we were here at Christmas. You know the Hubby and I are wanderers, if there is such a word. The other day I saw that neighbor when we were out in the car and we stopped and told him how much I enjoyed his Christmas tree. He invited the Hubby and me up to see all that he had done in the woods around his house. I am telling you this because each of us need to look around and be sure we are not overlooking that special thing or person. I am planning on going real soon. I guess you would say I am enjoying the moment.
Well, I must move on and tell you the latest news on the lake. I am sure you have noticed the “BIG BLUE FLAGS” are flying EVERYWHERE! We went to our first Big Blue Gathering and loved it; especially the food. Somebody had made fried apple pies and I just had to eat one. I told the Hubby not to get any ideas about me doing such a thing. You see I have been taking the “day off” every now and then and I am thinking about extending it to “a week off”.
You won’t believe what just happened; it’s barely light and a boat just came flying up the lake out in front of my house. He has so many clothes on I don’t know how he moves in that boat. Now that’s what I call “die hard fisherman”! He reminds me of those people last night that “bleed blue” and have UK all over them. You know I am slowly but surely getting that way myself. The Hubby asked me what I had in my bag the last time I went to Walmart…..I just had to tell him a Big Blue Shirt and Hoodie! Watch out it’s catching, it sneaks up on you and one day you are wearing a big UK on your shirt! I made them flip at Wayne’s Place, I had on my Broncos shirt and my UK Big Blue Hoodie. Now go figure that one out.
Till next time, take a moment to remember the good times and always enjoy the moment. Bye now.
