Where on earth did the summer go? I wonder about my ducks? You know I have not seen them all summer. I was told during the winter that an eagle ate one for lunch. I truly hope the lady up next to Shady Cliff is feeding them. I talked with her and she said her husband was having a ball feeding them. Of course the squirrels are driving the Hubby crazy. You see I love plants and they love to hide their nuts in my pots and of course that means my plants are torn to bits and dirt is all over the patio. I really pulled a fast one on them, I cleaned them up and brought them in the house. I even gave a few away. I really hate doing that because after a long summer of taking care of them, they feel like my children. So now we have a house full of plants. You know that has really “ticked off the Hubby”. He told me that he was sick and tired of looking for a place to lay something down and there sits a “silly plant”. I told him not to worry, it was only going to be about five months and then Mother Nature would push a button and we would have warm weather again! Of course it won’t be too soon for him or me.
I know most of you have had such a wonderful “leaf show”. I can’t believe people drive all the way to Gatlinburg Tennessee just to see the leaves and all they have to do is drive down 431 to Russellville. It is so much fun to just sit on the porch and watch the leaves RAIN down all over the yard, cars and driveway.
Well, today is Halloween! All the ghosts and goblins will be out and about. For some reason I never have any “trick or treaters”. I really miss that. I can remember when I was a child, we would dress up and go to a person’s house and they would try to guess who we were. They would have us come in for hot chocolate and cookies and always have a treat for us. Sad we can’t do that today.
I also use to make “popcorn balls” and give them out to the goblins and spooks but you can’t do that anymore because there are such bad people in the world. Since the weather was so dark and dreary today, I thought I would just make my ever famous popcorn balls.
Well, the Hubby came in several times to see if I was through yet. He could not understand you just don’t make popcorn balls very quick. Finally, I was finished and I put them in my “trick or treat” bag and ask if he would like one. Of course he had to reply, you have lost your marbles again, that is just an OLD WALMART BAG! I replied that on Halloween, I could “MAKE BELIEVE” anything! Just for that I went on my way and did not give him any until I get back home. You might know the first thing out of his mouth was, “woman this stuff will pull my teeth out”! I laughed and told him he would be a funny looking thing with no teeth. That did not go over so good. He said I could have talked all day and not said that. So much for trying to celebrate with the Hubby. He is something else, just hadn’t figured out what else yet.
Now that I have gone on and on about my cooking adventure. I will throw in the fact that tomorrow is a special Sunday. Yep, the Broncos play Green Bay in Denver!!!! Couldn’t close my column without mentioning that I will have my Bronco shirt on cheering for Green Bay. It is awful when they have your two favorite teams playing each other. If you hear a small explosion down near the lake, you will know that my team did not win! Also the Hubby is a Broncos fan; I think you remember that he was a Saints fan and he did not let me forget my team lost. He just does that to get me mad. To be continued……..
Glad you chose to visit with me. You know you can always enjoy the moment”! Hope you are, wherever you are. Bye now.
