Well, you girls and boys out there its fall and the leaves are everywhere. We have the funniest neighbors I just love them to pieces; but every Friday they drive down the driveway and wave. Then both of them jump in their work clothes and off they go! One grabs the grass edger and one gets on the riding lawn mower. I just smile and wave and think, man I am glad my yard is already mowed. You see I LIVE at the lake! There is a difference. You see we use to be the “temporary people” and now we are not. But in the fall, we don’t see our neighbor. Their wave runner has been pulled out and taken away and on the worse weekend ever, they came and pulled their boat out of the water. The wind blew and blew and she said, “Why have we picked the worse day to pull this boat out?” Of course the Hubby had to get in the act and tell them they need to retire and you could be here all the time. Don’t feel left out, if he met you today, he would tell you the same thing. That is his crusade. Anyway, this past weekend was different. She grabbed a leaf rake and he grabbed his leaf blower and off they went. Once again the wind was blowing and blowing! I sat in my little room and watched. You see “leaf dust” just sends me into “never, never land”.
Well, the next time I looked, she was on the mower and he had his leaf blower just blowing away. The Hubby said, why they don’t just wait until they all fall and then BLOW LEAVES. But what do I know. Of course you know the end of this story is not pretty. Sunday afternoon after they left, the rain started and the wind once again BLEW AND BLEW! I have told Mother Nature time and time again that I don’t like the wind but she don’t listen. You see I learned that from the Hubby, he tells me that at least 100 times a day. Anyway, here it is Tuesday after they were here and that yard looks like “LEAF CITY”. I kinda like the leaves. You can just sit at the window and look out and watch them fall. I talked about this day many years ago when I had to get up and go to work. Now that I don’t, I just do what I want; that is until the Hubby comes in my space and says, “Woman is that all you got to do? You know men can really mess up your life. I call them a “necessary evil”. You see you can’t live with them and its kinda dull living without them.
I did have one trauma in my life since I last talked with you people. I was ordering something from AMAZON; you know that company that saves the life of every woman living at the lake. You see most women who live at the lake love to shop, especially me. Did you know you can shop all day long sitting in your chair and never spend a penny? I don’t care what you want, they have it. Anyway, I was ordering something for the Hubby and my iPad froze! Yep, the receipt was frozen on my screen. Ask me if I nearly had the “big one”? Well, I pushed everything on the screen and nothing happened. I shouted at the Hubby that it was all his fault; his order just messed up my screen. He looked at me as usual like I had lost my “last marble” and said, WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? All I asked you to do was put it on your list! You know that one you keep next to your heart so you can write down all the things you need when you go to Walmart. I did not ask you to order it from Amazon. Well, after much crying and fussing, I decided to get on my iPhone and locate a computer “fix it” person. So off we went to Russellville to see this wonderful gentleman. Of course he knew just what to do; said he had other people that had had the same problem and it did not have anything to do with my connection to Amazon. You see the Hubby said Amazon was probably tired of me on their web site everyday so they just froze my account. Of course my reply to him was you probably put a “spell” on my iPad so I would not be using it instead of cooking. He really is not use to the MODERN WOMAN. But he certainly likes to see that UPS truck pull up in front of our house and leave what HE wants at the door.
You guys I started this conversation this morning and the rain was coming down really fast. Now its afternoon and the leaves and the rain drops are still falling in the lake. Wish all of you could come by for coffee and enjoy it with me. Till next time, I still say, “enjoy the moment because that is all we have”. LOVE YOU ALL. Bye now.
