It is once again Spa time! Do you know anything newsy? I sure don’t. We did have some showers this week, which we sure needed. I hear too late for some gardens, and yes, it is also tobacco cutting time.

Visiting some this week with George and Bev Whitson were daughter Julie and Cricket and Brian Ellis of Memphis. Brian came later in the week, and all went home together.

Our sympathy to the Stuart family in the death of sister Elizabeth Stuart Shoemaker of Louisville. Her services were at Stuarts Chapel Church beside her family. She has two remaining brothers here in the county, Curtis Ray Stuart and Warren Stuart and families.

Oh exciting news. Virgil Lee Sears will celebrate his 85th birthday on Wednesday the 18th. He remains in Heartstone Place in Elkton. Best wishes as you enjoy your special day.

Monday, Sept. 14th, the Thornberrys will be leaving for Porcupine, South Dakota. They will be winterizing mobile homes before winter. Hopefully you can go with them, give money or supplies, send clothes or non-perishable food. There are lots of ways to help.

Our sympathy tot he remaining family of the late Frances L. Lightfoot, whose services were this weekend.

Tuesday I had an appointment with Dr. McCubbin in Russellville. Judy Jernigan took me, and after my appointment we met Martine Brown and Kathryn Stuart at Slappyz. We had the most delicious lunch, We celebrated Judy’s birthday, which was the next day on Wednesday. We had a good time, and as I said a delicious meal. I even had fried green tomatoes. It was a good day.

Former pastor of Elk Lick, Bro. Kenny Cummins of Princeton, about 3 weeks ago fell and broke a foot. This week he had to have surgery on the foot. Hopefully it will now begin to heal and get much better.

Former interim pastor Bro. Robert Tarrence of Bowling Green had the same thing happen to him, the result of a fall, and messed up his foot. He has to have surgery too. Hope he is soon feeling much better too.He preachers, watch the feet.

Speaking today at Elk Lick was Bro. Steven Pendly from Springfield. He does a good job.

I’m already cold at the 44 temperature this morning. So when it really, really gets cold I’m sure enough to freeze. I dread it. As fast as time flies, it will soon be spring.

Remember next Sunday the 20th we will be voting on a pastor (Bro Jody McGaha), so please be here to help vote. Hopefully we can soon have a pastor. Remember he and his family were all here this past weekend.

Until next time, smile, make someones day, you will feel better too.
