People out there in “NEVER, NEVER LAND, Old TG has completely lost it. It is two in the morning and I am wide awake sitting here writing you all. You see since I came home I have been trying to catch up on everything that I should have been doing instead of running around like a “chicken with its head cut off”! Of course #1 is writing you all. I have so much stuff running around in my head that wants to get out, I just had to jump out of bed and send you these little words!
The Hubby was really glad to get home because he would be able to play with a new toy we bought just before we left to go on our little vacation. You see as we grow older sometimes we are unable to do the things we need to do.
Before we left he had a friend volunteer to help him find one of those cute little “four wheeler things”! Before I could blink my eye, they had one located and off they went to get it. Of course when I first saw it, I nearly flipped. I even did a double flip when the Hubby said “jump in and let me take you for a ride”! You got it….he nearly scared me to death. He must have reverted back to his younger days when he was “wild and wreck less”. I told him after screaming my head off, “he better stop this thing or I was going to jump out! Of course he was just like a little kid, he just kept right on going! He insisted on teaching me how to drive it and I told him, “I DON’T THINK SO”!
So after I decided to put “DRIVING LESSONS” on the top of my list, the Hubby suggested I call his friends wife. When I did, she said, “don’t worry, I will be right over. I thought, WHAT…you must be out of your mind. I didn’t even know you knew how to drive such a thing. My question was, you know you’re risking your life don’t you? I hated to tell her I didn’t think I could learn.
So we set a date, I thought I better take a nap first so I could get my nerves all settled down and all of a sudden the Hubby said, “your friend is here”! Believe me that was the minute the SHAKING BEGAN”. The Hubby was sitting outside in the swing and I just decided I was not going to let him see me scared! So after a few words of encouragement, I put it in gear and off we went up the steep hill and over to her house. Of course this was done on the road and she said, just drive down my drive way, you need to know how to drive on gravel. Well, down I went toward the water, people I nearly had the big one, I had no choice, I just went right through her yard, barely got it turned at the water’s edge, jumped a few ruts that the boats had put in her drive where people put their boats in the water and up the middle of the neighbor’s yard next door. She then shouted, you better put it in LOW so we can get out of here!
Just when you think, what in the world am I doing; you think am I really having as much fun as everyone tells me I am going to have? I also thought will I live to write about it?
Well, I put it in LOW and we hit the road again and off we went toward another friend’s house. I thought I would show off and show her how brave I was. Well, my little friend said, STOP RIGHT HERE, we need to take a left and learn a few more things. It looked safe enough, I started out through the woods and all of a sudden that road dropped into NO WHERE, all I could see was a steep hill going straight down. I yelled “HANG ON” and down we went. She yelled give it some gas and up the other side we went. By this time, I was shaking in my boots. Her only words were, “are you having fun yet” I could think of a lot of things that I thought were more fun but I will not bore you with them. My only question was, what do you do when you can’t get out of some place? She replied, this things will go anywhere, it’s made for doing things like this! Well, my thought was, thank you Lord for getting me back safe and sound back on the black top asphalt road. There is a “little wild” in all of us and never did I think I would be riding up and down hills like I did that day. And furthermore, I did not know my “sweet quiet” friend had a wild side.
Of course when I returned home, I had to tell the Hubby all that happened. He just shook his head and said, when are you going to take me for a ride. My reply was DON’T HOLD YOUR BREATH”! Till next time, if you wake up some morning and think you have to run out the door and do something different, just let me know because I can really take you for a wild ride. This is old TG enjoying every moment and hope you are doing the same. Bye now.
