The Russellville Panthers and Lady Panthers faced Greenwood on Tuesday night. The Lady Panthers played first and had a close game in the beginning, but would fall 58-47 to the Lady Gators. The Panthers played hard in the second game and would pull through with a win of 53-46.
The game would start slow for both the Lady Panthers and the Lady Gators. The Lady Panthers would have a good start to the game and have a small lead of 14-10 early in the second quarter. But by halftime, the Lady Gators would come back and have a four point lead of 24-20 over the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Gators would take off in the third quarter of the game, leaving the Lady Panthers behind by 14 points. The Lady Panthers would trail 28-42 going into the final quarter of the game.
The Lady Panthers would work hard in the fourth quarter and score 19 points, but the Lady Gators would keep their lead and take the win of 58-47.
Khalia Hampton would lead the Lady Cougars with 35 points.
The Panthers would play next and start out strong against the Gators. After the first quarter, the Panthers would have a four point lead of 15-11 over the Gators. The Panthers continued to fight hard and would end the first half with a nine point lead of 30-21.
The Panthers would struggle in the third quarter and only put up eight points, giving the Gators a chance to comeback. The Gators would fight hard, but the Panthers would hold on to the lead of 38-33 going into the fourth quarter.The Panthers would turn it up in the fourth quarter and score 15 points. The Gators would continue to battle, but the Pnathers would take the 53-46 victory.
Senior Barrett Croslin would lead the Panthers with 15 points. Pedro Rivera would follow with 14 points and Lee McMurry would finish with 13.
The teams will have a double-header tonight against their district rivals from Franklin-Simpson. The Lady Panthers will face the Lady Wildcats starting at 6 p.m.and the Panthers will play the Wildcats afterwards. Tonight, Russellville will also be hosting their homecoming ceremony.
