The severe cold weather closed schools on Monday and Tuesday this week and also caused the cancellation and postponement of most sporting events throughout the county, but one team didn’t let the harsh winter cool off their hot streak.

The Logan County High School girls’ basketball team travelled to Hopkinsville on Tuesday night and beat the Lady Tigers 57-35 for their third straight win. The victory also gives them four wins in their last five games.

Not bad at all for a team that struggled out of the gate, losing its first eight games of the season.

The Lady Cougars will try and keep their streak alive tonight as they host Todd County Central in a District 13 matchup.

The Lady Rebels have won just twice this year - beating Russellville at home in overtime for one of those victory.

The Logan County boys’ basketball team will also be back on the floor tonight at home taking on Todd County. The Rebels are 3-9 on the year, but have yet to beat a team from inside the Fourth Region.

The girls game will tipoff the district doubleheader at 6 p.m. The boys will take the court shortly afterward.

Both Russellville teams are scheduled to be back in action this weekend after having a full week off since the disappointing ‘Clash of the Cats’ last Friday at LCHS.

The Lady Panthers will be going for their second win of the season on Saturday afternoon when they take on Warren Central in Bowling Green.

The Russellville boys play tonight at Christian County and will be looking to pick up their fourth win of the season.
