During the first two weeks of November, Olmstead School students raised just over $5000 for JDRF, which is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, based out of Louisville.
The funds are raised to help continue diabetes research in hopes to one day find a cure.
Chandler Silvey, a seventh grader, said, “The walk is a good way to help raise money for JDRF to help find a cure for diabetes so that my sister does not have to live with T1D for the rest of her life.”
Chandler’s sister, Anna Silvey, is a fourth grader at Olmstead, and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at an early age.
On November 15th, Olmstead School students took part in their annual Walk for Diabetes, which included almost 400 students walking a one mile stretch around the campus grounds.
