So many twinkling stars

By Gene Vincent - Pastor, Beechland Baptist Church

As I took our dog out, I watched, as the Stars twinkled and wondered.

Stars twinkle because of turbulence in the atmosphere of the Earth. The Earth’s atmosphere has pockets of warn and cold air and the pockets of air, move. It is said that the light from the Stars are bent (refracted) many times in random directions as the light hits these pockets of air. It may appear to the human eye that the light from the Star is twinkling or moving.

Christians may appear differently to different people because of turbulence in their lives. The turbulence in a Christian’s path can be described as anything in their path that bends or hits the light shining from them and through them.

An example of this is seen in the life of Paul. When Paul was first converted to Christ as a Believer, many people saw him differently, but many remained very skeptical and filled with questions. Paul had not only encountered Christ, but he had been filled with the Spirit of the Living Lord. But as the Light of God shined brightly through him, it did not appear the same to all.

We are not all on the same level in our spiritual journey and as we look at each other, we may appear to twinkle or move, like the Stars. So what should we do, when we see another so called Christian that has (just like we have) turbulence in their life? What should we do when we have questions and doubts about other Believers that seem to twinkle or move?

Pray for Discernment? Ask God to assist you in looking at the other Christian from Gods perspective and not from our own, because your perspective may be flawed.

Spend time with the Brother/Sister in Christ. Remember that Barnabas searched out Paul in Tarsus in order to spend time with him. When we walk with a Brother for a time, we can learn their habits and their Heart.

Give them a chance and a benefit of the doubt. Remember how each of us have to grow and develop as Believers. While Christ saves us quickly, once the decision is made, He takes His time in developing us.

And most of all remember that we are all twinkling and are seen differently by others – because we are all still growing, moving and changing, as Children of the Light

Bro Gene, just another Twinkling Star.
