The laws of God

By David Yoder - Bishop, Providence Mennonite Church

As people in American we are to submit to the laws of our government. We are to honor and obey them. God put sin place what we deserve, using the people. (1 Peter12:12-14)

As Christians we are to fear God and keep his commandments. Our government can not destroy or annul the commandments God has given. God is the supremelawgiver. If we expect to enter heaven, we must accept Jesus as our personal savior, repent and keep all of his commandments. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)

today there is much ado about the rights of gays and lesbians and the right for them to marry. The Bible clearly states that it is wrong. Those involved in it and other moral sins shall not enter heaven. (I Corinthians 6:9-10) (Galations 5:19-20)

Men and women are not born like this, but choose to give in to this temptation. The same God that condemns this sin has also made arrangements to overcome and then can look forward to spending eternity in heaven. This can be accomplished by accepting Jesus as our personal Savior, then our sins are all forgiven. The Holy Spirit will give us power to repent and live a righteous Christian life. This is available to all people. (Joh 14:1-6)

Let us as a people set a standard that is pleasing to God, then the government will have something to guide them. (Jeremiah 51:27)
