I despise those little “Darts from Satan!”
What I imply as little “Darts from Satan”, are those small little things that pull me just a little out of the Spiritual realm where I sense the Spirit of God.
I was having a busy day yesterday, but all day I was awaiting the evening event at Church. Some of the men from the Church I pastor were going to fellowship, eat and pray together with a group of men from the Church that will be leading our Church in Revival. We sat, enjoyed good fellowship, ate too much, and than we got serious and prayed together. After prayer there was more fellowship and it was a blessing. It was one of those times that Christians simply enjoy each other. God was there with us and then we all said farewell and headed to our homes and families.
But in the midst of this nice time there was a Dart or two thrown at me, from Satan. Not a physical dart of course but a little information that stung me just a bit. It was not drastic or harmful, but frustrating. Often we do not need big issues to forces us away from God or His will, but those little, small things that sting just enough to distract us.
I assume that Christ Jesus was on a Spiritual mountaintop just after his Baptism. Jesus was beginning a special ministry that the world had never experienced. He may have wanted to slip away for a short time to relish in the Spirit’s presence, and then “Darts from Satan”. Of course we know that Jesus remained faithful and steadfast, but the “Darts of Satan” were there – those 3 temptations recorded in Matthew 4:1-11, took the joy out of His time of fasting and praying with the Father.
Temptations often are the little small, unnoticed things that are thrown in our path that simply have the goal of causing us to wobble a bit in our walk with Jesus.
Pray today that He will assist you not to Wobble in your Walk, or let the little annoying “Darts from Satan” (small temptations) keep you from experiencing all of His blessings and desires.
Remember the well know words of the Model prayer, “…Deliver me from evil.” Matthew 6:13
