Have you ever looked back over your life and wonder, “WHERE DID ALL THE TIME GO?” Well, it is July and I wonder where on earth did the summer go? Really! The old saying is, when July 4th rolls around, and then the year is half gone.
It finally got hot on the lake. Spring was a little “shaky” but it finally quit raining and we have had pleasant weather. Everything bloomed out just like Mother Nature told it to and everyone was very satisfied. But now people it is HOT! You don’t know what HOT is until you walk out your door and you feel like you are breathing water. You won’t believe it but I am praying for RAIN. I know Mother Nature is very confused. She thinks, man I can’t satisfy that woman. First she wants it to stop raining and when I did that, here she is praying for me to RAIN ON HER PARADE! I am sure she will change her mind again before I can get all the flowers and grass wet.
Yesterday we went to Boat Church. For those of you that cannot imagine going to church in a boat; let me explain. This year they started the season with a new sponsor. It is now the Focus Church that is holding the services “on the water”. It is just wonderful to sit back on your boat and close your eyes and your entire body soaks up the sun and the message. It is really different. Music just floats. But it was difficult this time because it was windy. There was a man there that had paddled his kayak all the way to Shady Cliff. Now that is a man who wanted to go to church. But you must concentrate! This way you cannot watch all the people in the other boats. I know it is tempting but I suppose it is the same if you were in a building listening to a minister. But today it was really more pleasant than ever. The minister said, “Where else can you come to church half naked, float around in the water and enjoy the service anymore than we have today?” They are now holding services close to the Deer Lick/Highway 431 junction for those of you that want to be in a building.
As I look back over the summer, I noticed condos being built and new people moving in to enjoy this beauty. More people were purchasing bait at Wayne’s Place and every time I go there for breakfast there are so many friendly people. Yes, just waiting for a person to talk to and of course I am right in there with them. I am sure you get tired of reading the same old thing but how are you going to know what life is like in this part of Logan County if I don’t tell you. It is just different here. Some times I am at a loss for words. Can you imagine that?
Something has appeared on the scene, the Hubby has a new fishing buddy and I am now taking the back seat in the boat. As a matter of fact, I am completely out of the boat. They plan to go on Wednesdays in the future. So ladies that means I have one free day to do what I want to do. And as always, they caught fish. FISH FRY COMING UP!
I also went to a “quilting gathering”. I have never seen such talent. One woman even had quilted a cover for her water bottle. I can tell you also that they talk another language. Of course since I was a visitor, I really didn’t try to learn everything since this was my first visit. The best part was the Mexican lunch afterwards. You see the Hubby does not like Mexican food and I never eat it unless I go with someone else or by myself.
I would like to mention that Deans Place has opened in Dunmor. It was here before when we first moved here but now it is in a different location. The food was good then and I am sure it is now. I am going to try it this next week. I only wish they opened on Sunday. That was my lifelong dream “not to cook on Sunday”. I wanted it to be my day of rest. The Hubby keeps reminding me that he thought every day was my “day of rest”!
We had a Carolina Wren build a nest in one of my flower pots on the porch. It is really strange that you can look out the window and see her “coming and going”. Of course the Hubby is keeping guard over the nest so that nothing disturbs the bird. Every time I go out the door to water my plants, he reminds me that HE is supposed to water that particular plant. Well, he is now the guardian of two little baby birds. Finally you can peek in the nest and two little “open mouths” are right there for you to see. That Mama Bird is a “busy little thing”, flying back and forth with just a tiny bug or worm in her mouth! I am sure she will be glad when they can fly on their own. But I am sure there will be one sad guy at my house when that happens. You see, he won’t have anything to look after.
I have one sad thing to announce. I have only received one recipe but I have not checked with the newspaper. I am hoping they have some there waiting for me. I can’t imagine a summer going by without a Recipe Contest! Remember there are prizes involved. I truly hope you women out there have not “quit cooking”. I hate to tell you, I have thought about it lately.
I must say its good bye for another week. I have been really busy “enjoying the moment” and I hope you have also. Until then….Bye now!
