You guys out there in “newspaper land”, you have never heard me complain but get ready; I am going to get some of this fury off my chest! I am sick and tired of being sick and tired of this weather. Mother Nature has been so bad this year that I am going to have to have some “stern words” with her. There is no excuse for all this bad weather everywhere. I came south and what do I get; the same thing I had at the lake. The only difference is the water here is not frozen like the lake.

Day before yesterday the word went out that they had closed the schools in this little town. It was 60 degrees and I could not imagine what in the world was going on. It was a “buzz” everywhere that this storm was coming. Of course you know I have a computer and I could only find a “little cloud” floating across the screen just above where we were. But that’s all you heard and really the Hubby and I just kinda laughed and went on about our business.

I told you I was learning to play bridge and a group of us was eating lunch in this little snack shop there and we planned on playing bridge after we finished. Well, just as we started eating, the lady in charge told us that we needed to hurry because she was closing and going home. Since we looked at her so strange, she remarked there was this storm coming!

Well, to make a long story short before we could get our sandwich in our mouth it started sprinkling. Our teacher said, “Why don’t we just move over to my place”. So we did just that. But since it was raining we rode in her car. Before we could get the first hand of cards shuffled, we saw “ice cycles” on the windows. One girl said, this is just like being at home. Of course she is from up north and since I am not from up north; I thought it was somewhat strange. Well, as we played, one man said, “look the bushes are covered with ice”! That’s when we decided we better head to our place while we could still walk. One person mentioned, “what if the lights go out”; since we have electric locks on the doors we wouldn’t even been able to get in our place.

So you see people, I did not accomplish anything by packing up all my STUFF and coming south. My grandmother always said, you better not fool with Mother Nature and now I know what she meant. I hope a lot of other things she told me does not come true.

All night long we watched the television about this being closed and that being closed. They even closed the roads here. One employee here said she had never seen weather like this. I told her she needed to come to Kentucky; we had it all the time. One lady from “way up north” said, “We have it like this every winter”!

Well, I guess I will have to get over it. They say it will be 60 degrees by Thursday and just like home, nobody will remember this a year from now. The Hubby just said as he looked out the window, “never thought I would see ice hanging on the palm trees.

I hope Mother Nature heard all our complaints. I bet she is smiling and saying to herself, “I just have to show people I am in control every now and then.”

One more thing I forgot to tell you, IT’S MY BIRTHDAY tomorrow! Happy Birthday to me. I am truly blessed to be living the life and truly enjoying every minute. I hope you are doing the same, even if it’s COLD. Bye now!
