On Thursday, April 24 , the Russellville Police Department responded to an accident with injuries at the 500 block of Hopkinsville Road. Tina White, 32, was driving a 1998 Plymouth Van traveling from Highland Lick Road towards Hopkinsville Road when her breaks malfunctioned. White and her two passengers went through the intersection of Highland Lick Road, crossing Hopkinsville Road, striking a stop sign, an election sign, and ultimately striking a drainage ditch. White’s five-year-old son suffered from a minor laceration to his finger which was treated on scene by the Logan County EMS personnel.
On Saturday, April 26, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to an accident with injuries on US 79 S. According to deputies, a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Michael Steil, 41, of Hopkinsville, was traveling southbound when he crossed over the center line on several occasions striking a 2006 Chevrolet Impala driven northbound by Diane Borden, 44, of Clarksville, Tenn.
According to a witness, upon striking Borden, Steil continued southbound losing control of his vehicle causing the vehicle to roll approximately four times before coming to a final rest on its top in a field.
Borden was transported by the Logan County EMS to Gateway Medical Center where she was treated and released.
Steil refused treatment and was lodged in the Logan County Detention Center for DUI due to alcohol contributing to the incident.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Olmstead Rural Fire Department and Logan County EMS.
