Nova Shockley isn’t your average 13 year old.

A 7th grader from Chandlers Elementary, Nova Has been working on raising money for for the logan county humane society for a year now. She had to have 50 hours of community service in order for her to get her silver award for Girl Scouts. She has exceeded well beyond that by doing numerous bake sales, candy bar sales,a luncheon at Auburn Health Care, and even a loose change count with the school’s permission.

Her mom and family have been at her side to help raise these funds and awareness to the community of Logan County. Her goal was $500. She raised $706. With these funds she bought a number of items for the shelter. Items like 1000 pounds of dog food from the Adairville Feed in Russellville, Cleaning supplies like bleach, clothes soap, dryer sheet, hand soaps, hand sanitizes, ceder chips, cat litter, canned dog and cat food, treats for dogs and cats, cat and dog toys, collars, paper towels and office paper. Even included some candy treats for all the workers and volunteers!

But she didn’t stop there. She went out and personally meet each and every cat and dog in the facility to give them each a treat! She presented all this on January 23rd.

Her hard work ,big heart, and dedication has payed off. Wish her luck as sends her paperwork in to the head of Girl Scouts for the final approval from Louisville. We hope she succeeds this approval and very much appreciate everyone who bought goodies from us to give these dear animals a meal well worth her time!
