For victims of crime there seems to be no end to the long nights, investigations, court proceedings, and “the wait.” There is always one person that gives the victim HOPE. Hope that tomorrow will be a better day. Many times that “one person” is a law enforcement officer, and a thank you is due.
Hope Harbor staff and volunteer advocates provide medical and legal advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault and abuse at hospital emergency departments and law enforcement agencies throughout the Barren River Area Development District. The dedication of law enforcement officers to provide exceptional service to the individual and the community is evident.
The Board of Directors of Hope Harbor would like to recognize this dedication of service through the 10- Star Awards Luncheon on May 14th at 11 a.m. at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge in Bowling Green. We will recognize law enforcement officers from each county in our service area for providing exceptional service directly to their agency or to the community they serve, and one officer for providing exceptional services to sexual assault and abuse victims. The name of these awards represents the 10 counties served by Hope Harbor (Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, and Warren).
We encourage nominations by supervisors, co-workers, and community members with knowledge of the service of the officer. If you wish to share a personal story, please be aware the story may be referenced at the event to introduce the winner of the award.
Requirements: All nominations must meet the following requirements to be considered.
• Nominee must be a sworn law enforcement officer from the Hope Harbor service area.
• Nominations can be submitted by anyone with knowledge of the officer’s contribution(s) to the community or service area.
• Nomination must be submitted by April 24, 2014.
