Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:24 KJV
We have in this passage of scripture the account of God instituting the first home. God has three institutions; the home, the government and the church. The foundation of all things is the home.
If the home breaks down then there will be a breakdown of the other institutions. I want us to notice several things about the first home. First we see that a man must leave his father and mother. If a man is not able or willing to leave his mother and father’s home, he is not ready for marriage.
If a man is not financially able to support himself and his wife, he is not ready to be married. There is nothing more disgusting than a man who gets married and moves a wife and children in on his parents. Manhood is under attack today. If a man provides not for his own, he is worse than an infidel.
Also we see that the first marriage was between a man and a woman. Anyone who promotes same-sex marriage is in direct disobedience of the word of God. Those in the religious world who okay such sins know not the God of scriptures.
Also we see in Genesis 3:16 that the husband is to rule over the wife. This does not mean the husband abuses his wife, but he is to be the leader of his house. (See also Eph 5:22-25, Titus 2:4-5, I Tim 3:1-5 and I Peter 3:1-7.)
There are many things that have contributed to the demise of the home structure. None has been as detrimental as mothers leave the home to work public work and letting grandma and daycare raise their children. No one will care for your children like you can. God gives us children to bring up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Eph 6:4)
There is a big difference between raising children and training children. We have passed the job off to other people and our nation has payed the price. Most people between 19-29 years of age are living together and not getting married. I know that there is no reversing the two income family, but we that believe God’s word can be blessed by following it. I Tim 5:14, Psa 113:9.
