As a concerned citizen of Russellville, I was so surprised to see that the Russellville City Park was so run down. My family and I went to celebrated a member of my family’s birthday at the park. I hate to see the park so run down, this park used to have fireworks and was so extremely crowded on 4th of July with reunions and fun.
To my family it was a great place to take your family and have picnics. We have a lots of memories at this park, I would like the future families to have the same opportunities. When we arrived only to see the pavilion were appalling! The benches and tables were so extremely filthy. We were prepared to wash off tables, but there was not any water available but except across the street. Around the playground equipments were gullies which previous rains had washed out. Some of the swings chains were broken and couldn’t be fixed. The slides were in good shape or the children would have not any where to play.
I thought the city was for beautification of the city. Or does this only count up around the Park Square? There was a beautiful sign showing the park entrance. But let’s face it even if it has a beautiful entrance, inside the park is what really counts. The park is there for the community to use so I plead with the city council to look in to this matter. There is a bypass near the park and I hate for visitors coming through to stop and use this park in such bad shape.
If the park shows any indication of what the rest of the town may look like: why would anyone want to visit our friendly little town? I understand that the fall season is upon us and the park won’t be used as much. This condition of the park might be something that the city council might add on their agenda for next year!
