The Logan County Cougars travelled to the home of the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats on Tuesday. The Cougars got down early in the game but made a comeback, but the Wildcats would end the game up one run. The Cougars would fall 7-6 to the Wildcats.
The Wildcats would start the game off early by scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning. The would add three more runs after a big hit in the bottom of the second. By the fourth inning, the Cougars would fall behind 0-5 to the Wildcats.
In the top of the fourth, Hunter Britt would put the Cougars on the scoreboard after getting a big hit to bring in two runs. The Wildcats would get a home run in the bottom of the fourth, increasing their lead to 6-2 at the end of the fourth inning.
In the top of the fifth, Matt Harper would double for the Cougars and bring in Tucker Baldwin and Jacob Wood. Soon after, Caleb Bruner would also get a double and bring in Harper. The Cougars would now trail 6-5 going into the last two innings of the game.
At the top of the seventh, Bruner would double again to bring in Ian Woodall. This would be the only run the Cougars would score in the inning, but it would tie the game 6-6 as the teams went into the bottom of the seventh.
The Wildcats were not ready to give up, and would hit a big double, bringing in the last run to win the game. The Cougars would lose the close game 7-7.
Matt Harper and Caleb Bruner would end the game with two RBI each. Bruner would pitch for the Cougars for five innings. He would allow eight hits, six runs, walk three and strikeout six. Hunter Britt would pitch the last two innings of the game. Britt would allow two hits, one run, walk one and strikeout one.
The Cougars will be playing at home tonight against the Muhlenberg County Mustangs. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m.
