The Russellville Panthers got their first win of the season on Friday night. The Panthers played five innings against the Caverna Colonels and would end the game with a 15-0 win. Senior Barrett Croslin would pitch a no-hitter for the Panthers to help seal their victory.
The Panthers started the game strong offensively and would load the bases early in the game. Jacob Proctor would step up to the plate and hit a home-fun for the Panthers. They would lead 4-0 at the end of the first inning.
At the top of the second, the Colonels would get their first runner on base after Croslin would walk him. The Colonels would attempt a bunt, but Jordan Blick would compete a double play to bring the Colonels down fast. Croslin would get the third out and the Panthers would head to bat.
The Panthers would go on to score nine runs before the Colonels defense could get three outs. The Panthers would hold a 13-0 lead after the second inning of the game.
The Panthers would have a slow third inning. Colby Nichols would start off the Panthers with a single and would be brought to home by Proctor. The Colonels would get the third out before the Panthers could score again. They would lead 14-0 at the end of the third.
The fourth inning would go by quickly and Jordan Blick would score the final run for the Panthers to bring the score to 15-0 at the end of the fourth. Croslin would strikeout three in the top of the fifth to end the game.
The Panthers are in Florida this week competing in the Florida Beach Bash. The Panthers will be back next Tuesday and head to Todd County to face the Rebels at 7 p.m.
